Mortgages in Greece
Mortgages are available on the Greek mainland and all of the Greek Islands on residential properties. All loans are available on a capital repayment basis only.
Mortgage loans are based on income in Greece, therefore proof of income is required for all cases and non status mortgage are not available. Most lenders insist on a minimum loan of £20,000, or the currency equivalent, over a maximum term of 25 years, depending on age. Some lenders in Greece will lend to a maximum value of 85% of the property purchase or valuation price, whichever is lower, but most advances are capped at 70%. Mortgages can be arranged in Euros, Stirling or US Dollars and the lenders may also take into consideration rental income when assessing income.
